By contributing to these projects and uploading your information to the databases, you are helping to further our knowledge of freshwater habitat health and supporting restoration goals. You can view the current data on the national maps of rivers/streams and lakes on the data portal.

Other ways to make a difference

There are also other initiatives which gather more detailed data on certain aspects of freshwater habitats and their species assemblages that you might want to get involved in, such as the Riverfly Partnership, the Rivers Trusts, the Freshwater Habitats Trust, CrowdWater, SmartRivers, Earthwatch Waterblitz, Modular River Survey, and the Angling Trust Water Quality Monitoring Network.
